This Privacy Notice for www.csstypestudio.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”), describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, or share your personal information when you use our Services. Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. We are responsible for making decisions about how your personal information is processed. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services.

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make significant changes, we will refresh the date at the top of this page and/or notify active subscribers by email.

Identity and Access

CSS Type Studio uses Google’s Firebase Authentication service to let users sign in using third-party identity providers, including Google, Microsoft, and GitHub. When you log into CSS Type Studio using one of these identity providers, we store the email and display name that is provided by Firebase. Firebase Authentication might collect a user’s password, email address, phone number, user agent, and IP address for authentication purposes.

We will use the information we receive only for the purposes that are described in this Privacy Notice or that are otherwise made clear to you on the relevant Services. Please note that we do not control, and are not responsible for, other uses of your personal information by your third-party social media provider. We recommend that you review their privacy notice to understand how they collect, use, and share your personal information, and how you can set your privacy preferences on their sites and apps.

Deleting Your Account

We will only keep your information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it.

Logging and Web Analytics

Our servers log activity in Apache/NCSA combined log format, which we use for error analysis and analytics. The log includes, among other data, your IP address and user agent string of your browser. None of our log data is ever shared with third parties.

We log the full IP address used to sign up a product account and retain that for use in mitigating future spammy signups. We also log all account access by full IP address for security and fraud prevention purposes, and we keep this login data for as long as your product account is active.

We use Google Analytics to measure site traffic and improve performance. We have enabled IP anonymization, disabled Advertising/Remarketing and Google Signals, and limit analytics data retention. Google processes analytics data on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement and may transfer it outside your jurisdiction. This processing is for legitimate business purposes (improving and securing the site); you can opt out by disabling cookies in your browser or using Google’s Analytics opt-out tool.

We also use Cloudflare, a third-party service provider that we use for content delivery, security, and analytics. Cloudflare provides aggregated analytics of visits to CSS Type Studio that does not identify individual user sessions.

Cookies and LocalStorage

CSS Type Studio does not use cookies, but does use localStorage, which is a similar technology that is used to store data on your browser for later sessions. It is used to remember your login information and the settings you configure in the Service.

Google’s Firebase Authentication may store data in your browser using cookies and/or localStorage when you log into CSS Type Studio. Please visit the Firebase Data Privacy Inquiries page to learn more.

Billing Information

If you sign up for a paid CSS Type Studio account, you will be asked to provide your payment information and billing address. This information is submitted directly to Stripe, our payment processor, and doesn’t hit CSS Type Studio servers. We store a record of the payment transaction that doesn’t include any of the billing information that you provided to Stripe. This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

Voluntary Correspondence

When you email CSS Type Studio or The Solar Nerd, LLC with a question or to ask for help, we keep that correspondence, including your email address, so that we have a history of past correspondence to reference if you reach out in the future.

We also store information you may volunteer, for example, written responses to surveys. If you agree to a customer interview, we may ask for your permission to record the conversation for future reference or use. We will only do so with your express consent.

Security of Your Personal Information

CSS Type Studio uses SSL/TLS encryption to secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

We strive to take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or alteration of your personal information. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, you acknowledge that: (a) there are security and privacy limitations inherent to the Internet which are beyond our control; and (b) security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through this Site cannot be guaranteed.

Children Under Thirteen

CSS Type Studio does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen. If you are under the age of thirteen, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use this website.

E-mail Communications

If you opt-into receiving marketing communications from CSS Type Studio, we may, from time to time, contact you via email for the purpose of providing announcements, promotional offers, alerts, confirmations, surveys, or other general communication. In order to improve our services, we may receive a notification when you open an email from CSS Type Studio or click on a link therein.

We’ll never sell your personal information to third parties, and we won’t use your name in marketing statements without your permission either.
